Center for Innovation Building in Distance
Mission:
    The Krause Center for Innovation's mission is to serve as a regional professional development center for educators at all levels to be focused on innovation through technology, with special emphasis on the subject areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. (STEM)

     Core Values:

    KCI Objective:

    • Our objective is to ensure that every K-14 teacher can teach using technology and every student has the skills to be a productive part of a technology-literate work force

    Strategic Goals:

    • Disseminate success through articles and conference presentations
    • Build partnerships with other educational organizations
    • Focus on technological foundation of educators

    KCI Tactics:

    • Provide a state of the art facility to house KCI activities
    • Provide a series of technology classes to address current needs of K-12 educators
    • Offer Educator Scholarship Programs
    • Create a cadre of educational technology leaders
    • Employ a small administrative staff to ensure the KCI programs are well run and cost effective

    Critical Issues :

    • Center for Innovation BuildingU.S. students frequently graduate without skills to compete in today's technology-driven world.
    • Silicon valley students frequently lack access to needed technology tools and classrooms
    • Students need teachers and schools that provide the opportunity for effective integration of technology and collaborative teamwork with everyday curriculum
    • More than 3.5 million teachers in this country are not technologically literate

    KCI's Role in Fixing Critical Issues:

    • KCI's programs educate educators on how to best integrate technology into their curriculum
    • Ongoing evaluation of current KCI programs indicates students have made significant measurable educational gains as a result of the skills teachers have learned at KCI

    Five-year Planning Priorities:

    • Continue to develop, formalize and access technology integration programs
    • Partner with local school districts
    • Fundraising program to create:
      • academic chair to support current teacher in residence position
      • campaign to support teacher scholarships
    • Secure funding for hardware, software and upgrading of facility
    • Enhance and expanding Learning In New Media Classrooms (LINC) course offerings
    • Ensure KCI has leadership and talent needed to complete the mission
    • Conduct evaluations to ensure KCI is meeting its objectives
