KCI Award-winning Programs:

  • LINC technology-based classrooms: >150 classes; >1600 teachers participated last year
  • KCI Merit Program Summer Institutes: 55 teachers, 2004 + 78 teachers, 2005
  • KCI Merit Program Fellows: 2004 KCI Merit Program Graduates now in multi-school multi-project teams

     

Critical Issues :

  • Center for Innovation BuildingU.S. students (K-12) frequently graduate without skills to compete in today's technology-driven world.
  • Silicon valley K-12 students frequently lack access to needed technology tools and classrooms
  • Students need K-12 teachers and schools that provide the opportunity for effective integration of technology and collaborative teamwork with everyday curriculum
  • More than 3.5 million K-12 teachers in this country are not technologically literate

 

KCI's Role in Fixing Critical Issues:

  • KCI's programs educate educators on how to best integrate technology into their curriculum
  • Ongoing evaluation of current KCI programs indicates K-12 students have made significant measurable educational gains as a result of the skills K-12 teachers have learned at KCI

Five-year Planning Priorities:

  • Continue to develop, formalize and access technology integration programs
  • Partner with local school districts
  • Fundraising program to create:
    1. Academic chair to support current teacher in residence position
    2. Campaign to support teacher scholarships
  • Secure funding for hardware, software and upgrading of facility
  • Enhance and expanding Learning In New Media Classrooms (LINC) course offerings
  • Ensure KCI has leadership and talent needed to complete the mission
  • Conduct evaluations to ensure KCI is meeting its objectives
